Patient Support Services in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde
Our Patient Support Services provide tailored practical and emotional support to patients attending hospital eye clinics across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
If you are living with sight loss, our friendly team can help with:

- Emotional support and much more
Face to face support from our team can be accessed in the eye department at Gartnavel General Hospital. Patients can drop-in to speak to a member of our team in Room 8 from Monday to Friday, 9:30am-4pm. Please note that due to current Covid restrictions the drop-in service is only available to patients who are attending a hospital eye clinic appointment. If you do not have an eye clinic appointment and wish to speak to the team please phone on 0141 332 4632.
Face to face support from the Patient Support Team is also available for patients attending NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Low Vision Clinic appointments at:
- Vale of Leven Hospital (second Monday of every Month)
Telephone support is available to all other NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde eye clinic patients.

Groups and courses
Our Patient Support Team run regular “Positive Outlook” courses for people living with sight loss. These free, three-week courses cover practical and emotional tips to help you cope and manage any day to day challenges you may experience following a diagnosis of visual impairment. They also provide an opportunity to talk to other people living with sight loss, to share hints, tips and experiences.
Courses are currently taking place virtually with the option to attend via video or telephone. A family member or carer is welcome to attend with you.
