Visibility Scotland are pleased to announce the launch of our brand new Tech Works project.

The project, funded by the Scottish Government, will focus on reducing inequalities by providing tailored support on assistive technology to individual’s living with a visual impairment of working age, with the aim of supporting access to education and employment.

The project will also support organisations and employers across Scotland to improve their accessibility by providing free training on visual impairment awareness, assistive technology and making MS Office documents accessible.

Support for visually impaired people of working age:

The Tech Works project will provide bespoke one to one training on technology, accessibility and assistive apps for people living with a visual impairment who are of working age. Up to five sessions are available per person depending on individual requirements.

Face to face support is available for people living in Glasgow, Edinburgh & the Lothians and Dumfries & Galloway with virtual advice and support available for individuals living elsewhere in Scotland.

The project will also provide support to people with their Access to Work claim. There will be the opportunity to try out different types of assistive technology and purchase directly from Visibility Scotland.

For further information please contact Jamie Bruce

Training for professionals:

As part of the project we’re also offering free training to organisations on making documents accessible using Word, Outlook and PowerPoint. There are two options:

  • A one hour session for organisations whose staff already have an understanding and awareness of visual impairment which focuses solely on making documents accessible.
  • A two hour session which includes an introduction to visual impairment for organisations whose staff may have limited experience around visual impairment.

Both sessions are delivered virtually via either MS Teams or Zoom. Sessions are open to organisations looking to train a group of staff.

For further information or to book a session please contact Natasha Johnston
