Hello, my name is Steph. I’m delighted to introduce myself as Visibility Scotland’s new Community Support Worker in our Out and About service.
I can help you navigate challenges at home and when out and about, allowing individuals with vision impairment to re-engage with their community.

Visibility Scotland’s Out And About Project
I’m here to help with areas you may find challenging. We can work together during home visits to focus on what matters most to you, such as:
- Building confidence when out and about.
- Navigating the sight loss pathway, including registration criteria and benefits.
- Learning techniques like eccentric reading and using aids, equipment and assistive technology.
- Exploring assistive technology and local groups.
- Access to work advice.
Support Getting Out And About In The Community
I am here to support you in day-to-day tasks to maximise your independence. Examples include (but are not limited to):
- Using public transport.
- Attending appointments/pharmacy visits.
- Shopping and café visits.
- Attending local support groups.
If there are any tasks that are not on this list, you are more than welcome to contact Visibility Scotland, and we can discuss any queries you may have.
What Do You Feel Is Missing?
I would love to hear from you if there is a particular activity you cannot currently access.
This could be anything you enjoy, for example:

- Music and playing instruments
- Cooking and baking
- Knitting and Crochet
- Sport and exercise
If you miss out on activities, please contact us so we can help you get back to doing the things you enjoy. Visibility Scotland can help you build confidence and independence. We will be here to support you and answer your questions.
