Free training: making documents accessible
As part of our Tech Works project, we are offering free training to professionals on making documents accessible.
There are two options:
Introduction to Making Documents Accessible
Communication should be inclusive, not exclusive. This 90-minute training session will cover practical tips that can be put into practice day to day to ensure that the documents and information materials you create are accessible. The session will cover Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint and will include an on-screen demonstration of creating an accessible Word document.
Introduction to Visual Impairment and Making Documents Accessible
This two hour training session will provide an introduction to visual impairment awareness and making documents accessible. The session will be split into two parts and will include a comfort break. The first part of the session will cover different types of sight loss and the common difficulties that may be experienced day to day by individual’s living with a visual impairment. We will explore some of the aids and equipment that can help, including assistive technologies such as screen readers and screen magnification software. The second half of the session will cover practical tips for making documents and information materials accessible. The session will focus on creating accessible Word documents but the tips shared apply when creating documents in other formats. The session will include an on-screen demonstration of creating an accessible Word document.
