Working in partnership with Be My Eyes

We’re excited to announce our partnership with Be My Eyes as of 1st June 2021.

The Be My Eyes app is an innovative app that provides real-time video assistance for individuals who are blind and visually impaired.

Our support staff will field calls from the Specialized Help section of the app to provide remote guidance and consultation around key areas impacting the lives of people who are blind and partially sighted. We will also offer critical information on resources and services available.

Commenting on the partnership, Visibility Scotland Chief Executive Officer Laura Walker, said:

Visibility Scotland is incredibly excited to join the Be My Eyes community. This service will enable us to reach even more visually impaired people living across Scotland. Through the Be My Eyes App, we can provide information on local and national services and, when appropriate, we will provide person-centred advice on assistive aids, adaptations and useful strategies. We look forward to talking to you.

By using app technology to connect and deliver services to members, the charity joins a prestigious list of companies such as Google, Microsoft and P&G who are organisational supporters of the blindness community.

Carter McGrath, Community Manager at Be My Eyes, said:

Visibility Scotland has been fundamental in making sure those living with sight loss in Scotland have the resources and information they need to live independently. We could not be more excited to start this partnership with them and help provide a necessary support network for people across Scotland.

Visibility Scotland volunteer, Jennifer, is a user of the Be My Eyes app. Jennifer said:

It’s fantastic that Visibility Scotland has joined the Be My Eyes app. If you can’t get through to the organisation on the phone and you’re not able to send an email, then Be My Eyes is another method of contact to ask any questions you may have. It’s ideal if you want to know an answer to something straight away. It’s great to be able to have so many innovative ways of contacting an organisation at your fingertips

With more than 4 million users and a growing family of company partners, Be My Eyes is one of the largest “micro-volunteering” platforms in the world – more than 4 million volunteers are on call at all times to help those who need an extra pair of eyes at short notice.
