Barriers to accessing benefits and accessible communications

This information session will provide an introduction to visual and hearing impairments and an overview of the common barriers experienced by people living with a sensory impairment when accessing benefits.

Many of these barriers are around communication. The second part of the session will provide practical tips to improve the accessibility of everyday communications including emails, documents and presentations. The session is open to anyone working within social security and welfare rights.

The session will take place via Zoom and there are a choice of two dates. To register for the session, please click the link below for your preferred date and time.
