Community Worker

Visibility Scotland is recruiting a part-time Community Worker for our Dumfries & Galloway service on a fixed-term basis until 31 March 2024.

The role

The post-holder will provide support for people to develop skills to maximise their remaining vision and improve their daily living, including eccentric reading techniques and how to use accessible technology.

The post-holder is responsible for informing people about what help is available and linking people to the right support at the right time.

A key element of the role is promoting independent living and developing the confidence of people living with sensory loss in Dumfries & Galloway.

Therefore, we are looking for a confident and understanding individual who will relish the opportunity to lead community skills-based groups, educational and awareness-raising talks and deliver one-to-one home-based tech training.

You will be skilled at delivering empathetic and meaningful responses to a wide range of needs, including social, emotional, additional support needs, mental health and wellbeing, family relationships, poverty, housing issues or social isolation.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a motivated and ambitious organisation. The post holder must have team spirit and be committed to creating a more accessible and equal Scotland.
