EyeCan!: Transformational coaching

Participants on our EyeCan! self management programme who live in Glasgow City Council are offered a unique opportunity to access transformational coaching sessions.

The sessions are provided by qualified coaches from Freedom and Joy. Both one to one and small group coaching sessions are available.

The sessions aim to tackle the mental health issues faced by visually impaired adults and support those whose mental health has been impacted by their disability and the pandemic.

The sessions focus on:

  • assisting visually impaired adults to accept and understand their visual impairment
  • supporting visually impaired adults to set and reach their goals
  • breaking negative belief patterns
  • enabling and equipping people to act more decisively and set clear achievable goals.

Sharon and Aarti from Freedom and Joy explain a bit more about coaching:

‘As coaches, we commonly find when people come for coaching it’s because they feel lost or ‘stuck’ and that’s because people can often feel overwhelmed. Most people have an idea of what they want or need to do but are unsure of how to go about it. In most cases it’s because they have lost sight of what’s important to them. Coaching helps to bring back that focus’.
