Patient Support Worker NHSGGC

Visibility Scotland is now seeking to recruit a part-time (21 hours per week) Patient Support Worker to become part of a person-centred team that covers NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Edinburgh, and the Lothians. The post-holder will be primarily based within Gartnavel Hospital, although cover at other NHSGGC hospitals will be required. This post may also require occasional travel to the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion in Edinburgh to provide cover as and when required.

The role is offered on a fixed-term basis until 31 August 2025. You will be expected to work three days per week. Monday and Wednesday are essential, but the third day is negotiable.

The post-holder will liaise with patients, family members and professionals to ensure that people experiencing changes to their daily life due to a visual impairment receive the correct support at the right time. The post-holder must have excellent communication skills and the innate desire to provide inclusive support to all.

The NHSGGC Patient Support service provides a bridge between the clinic and the community. The Patient Support team enables seamless service provision, referring to other Visibility Scotland services and health and social care services within the community.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a motivated and ambitious organisation.  The successful candidate will ideally have a proven track record in health and social care or the willingness and motivation to learn. The post-holder must have a ‘can do’ attitude and a positive team spirit.

Please complete the attached application form and equality monitoring form.  CVs will not be accepted.  The closing date is Tuesday 4 July at noon. Application forms can be emailed to paul.hanlon@nullvisibilityscotland.org.uk or posted to us at 2 Queen’s Crescent, Glasgow, G4 9BW.

Interviews are scheduled for Tuesday 11 July.

Job description and other forms will open in a new browser window.
