Fixed Term, Maternity Cover to 30th September 2022. 35 hours per week.
Working at a local and national level, Visibility Scotland aims to affect positive change and improve outcomes for visually impaired people, of all ages. We want to empower and encourage children and adults to focus on what they can do, not what they cannot.
Visibility Scotland are now seeking to recruit a Patient Support Worker to become part of a person centred team, predominantly based within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde hospitals, with possible cover at Edinburgh Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion when required. This post will require some travel to hospital sites across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, with possible travel to Edinburgh to provide cover at the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion.
The post holder will liaise with patients, family members and professionals to ensure that people experiencing changes to their daily life due to a visual impairment receive the correct support at the right time. The post holder must have excellent communication skills and the innate desire to provide inclusive support to all.
Visibility Scotland’s Patient Support service provides a bridge between clinic and the community. The successful post holder will enable seamless service provision, directly referring into Visibility Scotland’s Community and Rehabilitation services.
If providing cover at the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion hospital in Edinburgh, the Patient Support Worker will refer directly into Sight Scotland’s Visual Impairment Adult Rehabilitation and Mobility Services and Edinburgh Health and Social Care Social Work Locality Teams.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a motivated and ambitious organisation. The successful candidate will ideally have a proven track record in health and social care or the willingness and motivation to learn. The post holder must have team spirit!
