Glasgow Community Group.

Our weekly group enjoys crafting, making and growing together. The group meets between 10 AM to 12.30 PM at our head office: 2 Queen’s Crescent, Glasgow G4 9BW

 

05 November

Charged up café.

Our weekly café that runs between 10 AM and 3 PM every Tuesday at our head office: 2 Queen’s Crescent, Glasgow G4 9BW.

Come along and enjoy some free soup with bread and some tasty sweet treats. You can also charge up your electronic devices free of charge.  It’s a great way to meet and chat with other visually impaired people and find out more about our services.

The café is funded by Glasgow City Council’s Community Fund.

Please note that we have now implemented a booking system due to high demand. To book a spot, please call us on 0141 332 4632 or email us at info@nullvisibilityscotland.org.uk

 

Switched On!

A telephone-based virtual support for those needing help and advice on using their existing smart devices.

The session runs from 1 PM to 2:30 PM

 

Talking Tuesdays

A drop-in Zoom session for parents and caregivers of children with a vision impairment. All attendees must have email access to join. The group is limited to 15 participants. For more information please email families@nullvisibilityscotland.org.uk or call 0141 332 4632

 

06 November

Edinburgh Positive Outlook Course 

Week three of our face-to-face session offering advice, emotional support and information for those newly diagnosed with sight loss. The group runs from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Edinburgh Community Rehabilitation and Support Service, 62 Longstone Street, Edinburgh, EH14 2DA.

This session is only open to people who attended the first Edinburgh Positive Outlook on 23 October.

 

07 November

Positive Outlook Course (held on Zoom)

A virtual Positive Outlook course delivered on Zoom. You can meet others new to sight loss and share experiences and tips with others. This course runs over three consecutive Thursdays. The session is run by our Training and Information Specialist. The session runs from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Attendees can be dialed into to the Zoom meeting via telephone.

 

Renfrewshire Positive Outlook.

Week two of our face-to-face session offering advice, emotional support and information for those newly diagnosed with sight loss. The group runs from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Disability Resource Centre, Love Street Paisley.

Please note this session is only open to those who attended the first Renfrewshire Positive Outlook on 31 October.

 

08 November

Chair-based Movement and Meditation.

Chair-based movement and meditation with Kirsteen from New Rhythms for Glasgow.

Wake up for the weekend with positive energy movement and some mindfulness at the end of the session. Please book ahead if you would like to attend any of these sessions.

The sessions run every other Friday from 11 AM to 12:30 PM at 2 Queen’s Crescent, Glasgow, G4 9BW.

Renfrewshire Positive Outlook.

Week three of of our face-to-face sessions offering advice, emotional support and information for those newly diagnosed with sight loss. The group takes place from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Disability Resource Centre, Love Street Paisley.

15 November 

Messy Play

This session is for children aged five and under. The session will be delivered by our partners at Food Heroes who are two Specialist Dietitians. They will be ready to answer any queries about diet and health for your child.

The session incorporates exploring food through play, to build positive relationships with food for children and families while learning and having fun together.

It runs from 10:30 AM until 11.30 AM at our 2 Queen’s Crescent, Glasgow office.

Practical sessions (ages 10 to 25)

Visibility Scotland are delivering practical cookery sessions in partnership with Food Heroes. Food Heroes is run by Kay & Jenn, two specialist Dietitians who deliver diet and education sessions in a fun and interactive way.

The sessions are aimed at young people to help gain confidence in the kitchen and learn some healthy recipes along the way. You will learn basic kitchen skills such as recipe reading, measuring, cutting, and grating, as well as oven and hob practice.

The venue will be at Visibility Scotland headquarters, 2 Queens Crescent, Glasgow. The session will run from 6 PM to 8 PM.

 

22 November

Socialising group for 18 to 25 year olds 
Visibility Scotland is working with Freedom & Joy coaches to provide a series of group workshops. These sessions have a focus on socialising and for those aged 18 to 25 years with vision impairment. 

Aarti and Sharon are the Freedom & Joy Coaches . They will lead conversations about the challenges young visually impaired people have with socialising. Each group will provide an opportunity to identify solutions to these challenges in a fun, relaxed setting. These groups will be supportive and offer a unique environment to forge friendships, build confidence and empower the group to share new experiences.

The sessions will take place at Visibility Scotland’s headquarters at 2 Queen’s Crescent, Glasgow, G4 9BW from 6 PM to 7:30 PM.

 

27 November

This session is only open to people who attended the first Edinburgh Positive Outlook on 20 November.

 

Longstone Apple/iOS Digital Skills Group

Craig is offering group-based support for people living in Edinburgh City with their existing devices. This alternates month to month between Android and IOS. This event is for people with Apple devices only. It will run from 1 PM to 3 PM at the Longstone Resource Centre, 62 Longstone Street, Edinburgh, EH14 2DA.

In order to use the Longstone Resource Centre facility, people must live in the Edinburgh City local authority.  For people in the Lothians, we can offer a face to face group at QC “Digital Skills Group” or a monthly Switched On! session via Zoom.

A Positive Outlook course delivered in person at our Queen’s Crescent office. You can meet others new to sight loss can share experiences and tips with others. The course runs over three consecutive Thursdays. The session is run by one of our Patient Support Workers. The session runs from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

 

Working Aged Positive Outlook Course (In Person)

A Positive Outlook course aimed at people of working age delivered in person at our Queen’s Crescent office. You can meet others new to sight loss can share experiences and tips with others. The course runs over three consecutive Thursdays. The session is run by one of our Patient Support Workers. The session runs from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM

 

29 November
