Here’s what’s coming up in Visibility Scotland in September 2023:

1 September

  • Little Explorers Messy Play. Our friends at Food Heroes are hosting a messy play session for Little Explorers aged 0-5 years at Queen’s Crescent from 10 to 11:30 AM. Maximum 5 children.   • Digital Drop-in. Come along and get face-to-face assistance with your existing devices at our new ‘Digital Drop In’ service on the first and third Friday of each month from 1 to 3 PM. These small, group classes are geared towards people who may need additional support in order to join one of our virtual ‘Switched On’ workshops. They will take place in our Digital Suite at 2 Queen’s Crescent, Glasgow G4 9BW. If you fancy coming along then call us on 0141 332 4632 or email us at info@nullvisibilityscotland.org.uk

 

4 September

  • Glasgow Community Group. Our weekly group enjoys crafting, making and growing together. The group meets between 10 AM to 12.30 PM at our head office: 2 Queen’s Crescent, Glasgow G4 9BW. 5 September

  • Neuro one-to-one support. One-to-one specialist rehabilitation support for those experiencing neurological sight loss. The support is offered at our head office, 2 Queen’s Crescent Glasgow, G4 9BW.

 

  • Charged up café. Our weekly drop-in café that runs between 10 AM and 3 PM every Tuesday at our head office: 2 Queen’s Crescent, Glasgow G4 9BW. Come along and enjoy some free soup with bread and some tasty sweet treats. You can also charge up your electronic devices free of charge.  It’s a great way to meet and chat with other visually impaired people and find out more about our services.

 

  • As part of our Charged Up café, the welfare rights team from Deafblind Scotland will be on hand from 10 AM to 1 PM to offer 45-minute welfare rights appointments. There are four appointments available.

 

  • Switched On. Our Switched On service is a virtual workshop that takes place on Zoom, a web-based platform, where you can receive advice in a group setting to understand and ‘Switch On’ the accessibility features on your smartphone or tablet devices. 6 September

  • Daily Living Skills Workshop. Build confidence with basic daily living skills, such as food shopping, kitchen familiarity and basic kitchen techniques. Also covering long cane and mobility skills. This session covers familiarisation of Queen Street station/long cane training on getting on and off a train. The workshop runs from 10 AM to 12 PM

 

11 September

  • Neuro Self-Management group. A self-management group for those with neurological sight loss. The group runs between 1 to 1:45 PM at our head office, 2 Queen’s Crescent, Glasgow, G4 9BW.

 

  • Moffat tech Roadshow. An open group session for individuals with Visual Impairments to attend to receive Digital Solutions advice to support independent living with visual impairment. The roadshow takes place at Moffat Town Hall, High Street, Moffat, DG10 9HF from 12 to 3 PM. Pop along on the day if you would like to meet our friendly team.

 

  • REACH Positive Outlook. Virtual Positive Outlook course that focuses on information, hints and tips and strategies for making the most of life with sight loss. Runs on Zoom between 2 to 3:30 PM. 13 September

  • Helensburgh Peer Support Group. Peer support group for those with visual impairment. The group meets at the United Reform Church, 35 West Princes Street, Helensburgh from 10:30AM to 12 PM.
