Habilitation Specialist Opportunity

We pride ourselves on our creativity, innovation and team work and we know you don’t need sight to have vision.National Lottery Community FundWe are delighted to announce an exciting Habilitation Specialist opportunity in our Children, Young People and Families team. This full-time post (35 hours per week) is partly funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, and is suitable for a Qualified Habilitation Specialist or someone currently undergoing Habilitation training.

In this role, you will provide a person-centred Habilitation Service to meet the specific needs of children and young people who live with a visual impairment. You will be expected to build upon existing relationships and forge new partnerships with professionals and other organisations to ensure Visibility Scotland is positively represented at a local and national level.

You will provide multi–disciplinary support to ensure connectivity and access to all services for each service user. The Habilitation programme will provide an innovative tool-kit of strategies that will aim to provide each child or young person with the knowledge and skills to develop their confidence, independence and long term resilience. The key areas that support and training cover are mobility, travel, independent living skills and technology.

You will be expected to have a sound knowledge of visual impairment and how visual impairment and additional disabilities can impact children, young people and their families.

This post will include some evening and weekend working as well as travel across Central Scotland. You must be flexible, highly motivated, and able to work as part of a team but also work independently when required.

Please note that the post comes with a £5,000 relocation lump sum and either access to a pool car or a car allowance.
