Launch of our new Patient Support Service at St. Johns Hospital, Livingston

We are delighted to announce the official launch of our Patient Support Service at St. John’s Hospital in Livingston, funded by West Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership. The new service expands our Patient Support provision beyond our current locations in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion in Edinburgh.

From today (12 October) our patient support team will provide an early intervention service to patients attending hospital eye appointments at St. John’s. They will be based in the eye department on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Patients who have an eye clinic appointment can drop-in to meet with a member of the team.

The team will provide tailored practical and emotional support to patients including information and advice on:

  • making the most of your vision
  • the registration process
  • reading and navigation
  • technology and assistive apps
  • benefits and entitlements and much more.
