About Visibility Scotland

Working locally and nationally, Visibility Scotland drives positive change and improves outcomes for vision-impaired and blind people of all ages. We want to empower and encourage people to focus on what they can do, not what they cannot. Through our social enterprise, Visibility Trading and Training, we also provide a range of training and consultation services.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting Sight Loss Councils across Scotland. In Scotland, Sight Loss Councils are delivered through a partnership between Sight Scotland, Sight Scotland Veterans, Visibility Scotland and Thomas Pocklington Trust.

Sight Scotland is the lead organisation within the consortium partnership and employs the Sight Loss Council Scotland Coordinator. In this role, you will work closely with volunteers, partners and colleagues to support the delivery and development of Sight Loss Council activity across Scotland.

They are volunteer-led groups that bring together people with lived experience of vision impairment and blindness to influence positive change in their communities.

Working alongside colleagues, volunteers and partner organisations, you’ll help ensure that people with visual impairments have a stronger voice in shaping accessible and inclusive communities.

As the Sight Loss Council Scotland Coordinator, you’ll support the day-to-day delivery of Sight Loss Council activity across Scotland. You’ll coordinate meetings, events, and engagement opportunities, support volunteers to participate confidently, and help deliver projects that advance accessibility, equality, and inclusion.

You’ll also work closely with partner organisations, maintain accurate records, and help measure and communicate the programme’s impact. The first 12 weeks of the post will be based with Visibility Scotland.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in project coordination, volunteer engagement, stakeholder management and organising events, while making a real difference to the lives of people with vision impairment or blindness.

We are seeking someone who is highly organised, proactive and passionate about using lived experience to influence change, from behaviour to policy.

You’ll have experience coordinating projects, events, volunteer programmes or community engagement activity, with excellent communication and organisational skills. You’ll enjoy working collaboratively, managing multiple priorities and ensuring activities are delivered to a high standard.

Experience of supporting volunteers, using digital systems and promoting inclusive participation will help you succeed in this role.

Lived Experience of vision impairment is essential.

The role is based in Scotland (Glasgow or Edinburgh) with regular travel required to meetings and events across the country.

Interviews

Interviews will be held in person at Visibility Scotland’s headquarters: 2 Queen’s Crescent, Glasgow, G4 9BW. The interview panel will comprise one representative from each organisation.
